Drosophila "sweetheat" wins judges' heart in image competition

13 June 2018

Olga Zaytseva, PhD student from the Quinn Group, the ACRF Department of Cancer Biology and Therapeutics, has won the first prize of the inaugural CAM Image Competition, with her (stunning) image "Sweetheart".

Olga's confocal image shows the cells of a Drosophila ovary. Germline cells differentiate to form cysts, normally arranged in chains, which grow and mature as they move away from the stem cell niche. In this image, DNA of all cells is shown in yellow and the cytoplasm in purple. Red outlines the germline cells.

Congratulations Olga! We are all very proud of you!

Olga's image, along with other submissions, will be included in a CAM calendar for 2019.
