Creating a historic moment for the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR), two of our outstanding PhD students Sasanan and Rakshanya claimed the winner and runner-up awards at the Australian National University (ANU) 3-Minute Thesis Competition 2024 grand finale, held on 25 July at Llewellyn Hall.

This July, eleven PhD, two MPhil, and nine Honours students completed their academic research and graduated from JCSMR.

Jin Si Lam, a standout student from the Gardiner Group, has been awarded the prestigious University Medal for 2024.

Professor Si Ming Man will receive $788,014 to support research aimed at addressing the critical challenge of antimicrobial resistance by leveraging the immune system to design new drugs against superbugs.

Dr Elizabeth Webb and Dr Tom Lea-Henry have been honoured with the inaugural CHARM Rising Star - Outstanding New Researcher Awards. This prestigious recognition was announced at the Canberra Health Annual Research Meeting (CHARM), held from 17 to 21 June 2024.

At just nine years old, Zara Skepev has raised more than $30,000 to support brain cancer research. This remarkable primary school student has been making and selling earrings, with the funds directed to support female researchers at The John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR).
