The idea is to attempt to develop a non-contact form of multifocal assessment of the visual system as an adjunct to, or replacement for, standard automated perimetry. Perimetry is functional testing of the visual fields to diagnose sight threatening diseases and to monitor the effectiveness of treatments. Applications include the major blinding diseases: glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, and neurodegenerative disease like multiple sclerosis. Clinical collaborators include several staff at The Canberra Hospital/ANU Medical School including Christian Lueck (Neurology), Rohan Essex (Ophthalmology), and Chris Nolan (Endocrinology).
