About

I am a postdoctoral-research-fellow in Prof. John Bekkers group, curious to explore the most primitive area in the brain, named “Olfactory cortex”. This area of brain, functions as a factory for processing the smell sensation. I have grown interest to look into, how this area discriminates different smells and register them for future reference to recollect the context associated with those smells. What are the neuronal and receptor level contribution in this process, and how some neurological disorders disrupt this process, are my broad wish of research. I have born and grown up in Kolkata known as “City of Joy”, India, and received my education from various part of India as well as from abroad.

Research interests

Since last five years, I have been exploring the contribution of inhibitory synaptic modification on learning process and maturation of task‑specific memory engram using olfaction as model system. Currently, I am looking into the effect of NMDA receptors on encoding of odours and odour familiarity in the piriform cortex, using 2P microscopy and calcium imaging.
