Dr Zhi-Ping Feng is a specialist in analyzing gene expression and regulation based on RNA-Seq and ChIP-Seq data. She is also experienced in studying protein-protein interactions, and the relationship between protein structure and function.

Ping worked at WEHI Bioinformatics Division from 2009 as a senior research fellow with Professor Tony Papenfuss and Professor Terry Speed in analyzing genomic and transcriptomic data, as well as quality control in omics based biomedical research. She initially joined WEHI in 2002, working in the Structural Biology Division with Professor Ray Norton to determine protein and peptide tertiary structures using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. She won an Australian Postdoctoral (APD) Fellowship in 2005 with a project entitled: Intrinsically Unstructured Proteins (IUPs): NMR characterisation, prediction, and application to malarial proteomes. Ping received her PhD in protein bioinformatics in 2001 in China and was originally trained as a physicist from Peking University.
