Maximizing microglia: boosting innate protective functions in neurodegeneration
Speaker Bio
Chris Bohlen is a Principal Scientist at Genentech, where he has been striving to develop new drugs for modulating neuroinflammation in neurodegenerative diseases since 2017. Chris has a background in genetics and cellular biology, having studied mechanisms of pain-causing venoms in David Julius' lab (UCSF) for his PhD thesis, and having investigated microglia activation and phagocytosis mechanisms in Ben Barres' lab (Stanford) during his postdoctoral fellowship. Chris is currently focused on microglial contributions in Alzheimer's Disease, and is pursuing forward genetic efforts to identify new targets/pathways for future therapeutics.
