Biography

Associate Professor Cecile King received her PhD from the University of Western Australia and completed her postdoctoral training at the Scripps Research Institute, CA, USA. She joined the faculty of the Department of Immunology at the Garvan Institute for Medical Research, Sydney, Australia in 2005 and as Scientia Associate Professor at the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of New South Wales since 2021. Cecile continues to be intrigued by the fundamental aspects of the immune system and has made important contributions to our understanding of adaptive immune responses and autoimmune disease. Her research focus has developed toward understanding the role of RNA at the immune interface, both as substrate and as a regulating force; including the analyses of cytosolic RNA sensing pathways and how retrotransposons regulate the immune response.
