From students to innovators: JCSMR graduates ready to transform medicine
Continuing its legacy of transforming students into innovators for the betterment of tomorrow's medicine, the John Curtin Medical Research School (JCSMR) celebrated its latest batch of graduates joining the esteemed alumni circle in the mid-year July graduation at the Australian National University.
Director of JCSMR, Professor Elizabeth Gardiner, hosted the customary graduation morning tea reception for the mid-year HDR and Honours graduates on 11 July. The event was attended by researchers, supervisors, and colleagues.
This July, eleven PhD, two MPhil, and nine Honours students completed their academic research and graduated from JCSMR.

In her speech, Professor Elizabeth Gardiner highlighted the important milestone of the 75th anniversary of the school this year and the significance of continuing JCSMR's long-standing legacy. She appreciated the hard work of the students and the supervisors who guided them to this accomplishment.
“You may continue on this path or explore other opportunities ahead of you. No matter what path you take, JCSMR will continue to be a key element of your journey,” she said.
Professor Gardiner also made a special remark on Honours student Jinsi Lam, who won the ANU University Medal for 2024.
Associate Director (HDR) for JCSMR, Associate Professor Brendan McMorran, Associate Dean (Engagement and Partnerships) of ANU College of Science and Medicine, Professor Graham Mann, and JCSMR School Manager, Soumi Bala, were also present.
