Identification and analysis of platelet polymorphisms associated with malaria susceptibility

Platelets represent a novel mechanism used by the host to defend against malarial infection. The project will investigate genetic polymorphisms that affect platelet function, malaria parasite killing activity and severity of clinical disease.
