Congratulations to Dr Harpreet Vohra

28 March 2013

Congratulations to Dr Harpreet Vohra, flow cytometry specialist in the Microscopy and Cytometry Resource Facility (MCRF), who has been awarded an Australian Government Endeavour Executive Award.  This highly competitive award is given to applicants to undertake study, research and professional development overseas.  Dr Vohra is currently working in the lab of Professor Gary Nolan at Stanford University in the US to learn a new technique known as mass flow cytometry.  This technique uses cells stained with metal-conjugated antibodies analysed with a time-of-flight mass spectrometer and can potentially enable analysis of up to 100 stable isotope labels in a single sample.

While in the US, Dr Vohra will also attend a workshop on phosphor-flow cytometry, visit the CYTOF mass flow instrument manufacturer, DVS Sciences, and meet with Cytobank software developers to learn about analysis of the large amount of data generated by mass flow cytometry experiments.
