ANU to go smoke free

1 June 2015

The University is going Smoke-Free from 20 July 2015.  Under the new policy the University environment will be smoke-free and prohibits all smoking (including electronic cigarettes) and the use of all tobacco products, except in a limited number of Designated Outdoor Smoking Areas (DOSA) located around university residential areas (if permitted by local residence rules) and ANU bars.
 In response to the upcoming changes the ANU College of Medicine, Biology & Environment and the ANU College of Physical & Mathematical Sciences has arranged for two one hour Workplace Quit Smoking Seminars to be held as follows:
 
Ø  Thursday 4 June 2015 – RN Robertson Lecture Theatre, 11:00am to 12:00noon
Ø  Wednesday 17 June 2015 – Finkel Theatre, JCSMR, 2:00pm to 3:00pm
 
The seminar will cover:

  • Understanding of the addiction of smoking
  • Knowledge of different quitting methods and products
  • Understanding of smoking and quitting so that you are able to choose a personal quitting strategy to suit you

 
Also available are two ‘Quit Smoking’ courses which are free to ANU staff and PhD students.  The courses are:

  • ‘Fresh Start’ Quit Smoking course
  • ‘Short Course’ Quit Smoking course
