Genome Engineering for Cancer Treatment - The Frank and Bobbie Fenner Conference

The Cutting Edge Science Symposium on Genome Engineering for Cancer Treatment (The Frank and Bobbie Fenner Conference), will be held in Canberra 20-22 November 2017.

The symposium will explore the potentially revolutionary field of personalised cancer treatment using CRISPR-Cas9-based genome editing. This technology allows for the accurate editing of DNA and has become a powerful tool for researchers. Recently, the National Institutes of Health, USA has approved the use of CRISPR–Cas9 for cancer treatment, ringing in a new era of CRISPR applications in human health.

The new application in human health requires particularly the specificity and personalisation of the genome editing to be improved. New Big Data enabled analytics methods have been developed to address these challenges and deliver the efficiency and safety required for clinical application in humans.

The symposium will bring together international researchers and medical experts to discuss specific application areas, and ways to improve CRISPR efficiency for human application.
