Bronchial Asthma

33 yo male complaining of asthmatic attacks. This patient has a history of bronchial asthma of 10 years duration. He has experienced dysnoeic attacks of sudden onset for the past two weeks. He is using steroid for inhalation. VC 5.04l (122%); FEV1 3.9l(78.2%).
Radiological Examinations

81mKr Gas SPECT inhalation

Comments: There is no particular abnormality on chest x-ray. A ventilation defect is seen along the interlobar fissures in the right lung. |

Clinical Point: assessment of ventilatory abnormalities in an asthmatic patient in remission. |

General Comments: Technegas planar scintigraphy reveals a normal distribution pattern in the lungs, but the ventilation defects are seen along the interlobar fissures, indicating treatment should be continued. |
