Mario Lobigs (1959-) graduated BSc (Hon) in 1984 and PhD in 1987 in the Biochemistry Department of the Science Faculty, ANU. His PhD research was with Dr Lyn Dalgarno on the molecular epidemiology and virulence determinants of Australian flaviviruses. He then undertook post-doctoral studies at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden with Professor Henrik Garoff on fusion and entry mechanisms of alphaviruses. Returning to Australia in 1990, he joined the Division of Cell Biology at the JCSMR as Research Fellow and was promoted to Fellow in 1996. His main research interests are in the molecular and immunobiology of flaviviruses.
