Faces of Science

5 December 2013

Throughout Canberra's first 100 years as a city, scientists have contributed greatly not only to scientific innovation and discovery, but to the growth of Australia as a nation and to an improved quality of life for all Australians.

This free exhibition takes a contemporary snapshot of Canberra scientists that have made contributions to research in science, medicine and health.

The photograph of Dr Carola Vinuesa for JCSMR, is one of the many images of the scientists on public display in the Faces of Science exhibition at CSIRO Discovery. It was chosen for the exhibition poster because despite evidence to the contrary in this photo (the white lab coat and the beakers), the exhibition of portraiture is about the people, not the science and in short essays to accompany each image, the subjects talk about their research their inspirations and their hobbies.
