Special JCSMR School Seminar: The Autoimmune Tautology

Professor Juan-Manuel Anaya, MD, PhD, Head, Center for Autoimmune Diseases Research (CREA), Rosario University, Bogotá, Colombia

Juan-Manuel Anaya received his MD from the Medical Faculty of Rosario University, in Bogotá, Colombia. He developed his residency in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at the University of Paris V - René Descartes. He obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Immunology at Institute Pasteur of Paris and developed a diplomat in Statistics and Epidemiology at Montpellier University, France, where he was “Chef de Clinique” at the Immuno-Rheumatology Department in the Gui de Chaulliac Hospital. At the Clinical Immunology Division from the Department of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, USA he performed a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. He received his PhD in Biology from the University of Antioquia, Colombia. His research interests include both clinical and translational aspects of genetics, cellular and molecular immunology in the area of autoimmune diseases. He focuses his research into the identification of shared genetic and molecular pathways in autoimmune diseases. He has authored more than 200 scientific articles, served as a senior editor of the significant books and journals in the field of autoimmune diseases. Professor Anaya is the head of the Center for Autoimmune Diseases Research (CREA) at Rosario University, Bogotá, Colombia.
