As part of the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) Medical Research Week® in the ACT a New Investigator Forum (NIF) will be held on 4 June at JCSMR. The forum will comprise of posters and oral presentations from students, research assistants and early career post-doctoral fellows (
This year the keynote speakers are:
Emily Banks, Professor at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health ANU
Chris Hatherly, National Research Manager at Alzheimer’s Australia and
Ian Parish, CJ Martin Fellow at the John Curtin School of Medical Research.
Abstract submission closes on the 30th April and submission is open to both ASMR members and non-members. There will be prizes awarded to the best oral and poster presentations. New abstracts and abstracts presented at other conferences within the last 12 months are welcome. There is no cost for the NIF but numbers are required for catering purposes please submit both abstract submission and registration forms.
I strongly encourage you all to participate in the NIF as this is a great chance to showcase the research being undertaken in Canberra and the NIF provides a unique opportunity for students and early career researchers to gain valuable experience in presenting their work. Even those in the early stages of research should consider submitting an abstract. If you are not presenting, attendance at this event is a great opportunity to support the medical research being undertaken in Canberra.
