Vantage DiVa:
More information coming soon!
FACStar plus:
The FACStar plus is equipped with a triple laser bench, Macrosort Sort Option (for large particles), Sort Enhancement Module (allows nonrectangular sort windows), Pulse Processor (Ratio Measurements for Calcium Studies, Doublet Discrimination for DNA Analysis) and an Automatic Cell Deposition Unit.
The ACDU is used to sort one or more cells per well into plates from Terasaki to 24 well plates or slides.
There is a cooling/heating unit attached which allows temperature control from 4°C - 56°C.
Laser 1 is a Coherent Argon-Ion water cooled laser tuned to 488nm wavelength.
Laser 2 is a Spectra Physics Argon-Ion water cooled laser tuned to UV.
Laser 3 is a Helium-Neon air cooled laser at 632nm wavelength.
BD FACSCalibur:
The FACSCalibur is an analytical flow cytometer with two scattered light detectors and four fluorescence detectors. The fourth fluorescence detector option which this instrument has collects signals from fluorochromes excited by a small 633nm red diode laser.
Choose this cytometer in preference to the BD LSR, if you are working with APC and a tandem dye such as PE-CY5 as in practice you will have less difficulty with the compensation for spectral overlap on this instrument.
The FACSCalibur is also fitted with the Multiwell Acquistion System with allows samples to be taken directly from 96 and 384 well plates
If you'd like to use this unit, please read the MAS User Guide PDF file and remember to remove the MAS probe .
FACSort:
The FACSort can measure up to six parameters. FSC, SSC and four fluorescence parameters. It can also measure the pulse height, area and width of three fluoresence parameters (FL1, FL2 and FL3).
Some of the most common fluoresent dye's used on FACSort here at the JCSMR.
Fluorescent Dye Filter Peak Emmision Detector FITC ( Fluorescin Isothiocyanate) 530nm/30 525nm FL1 Phycoerythrin 585nm/42 578nm FL2 Propidium Iodide 585nm/42 or 670LP 617nm FL2 / FL3 PerCp (Peridinin chlorphyll protein)

The flow rates on the FACSort are: LO ( 12µl ±3µl /min ) MED (35µl ±5µl /min) HI (60µl ±7µl/min)
FACScan:
The FACScan is a single air cooled laser (488nm) instruments and are capable of three colour and two scatter parameter analysis. The FACScan is also equipped with a Doublet Discrimination Module for the measurement of pulse width and area which is used in DNA analysis.
Some of the most common dye's used on FACScan's here at the JCSMR.
