Degree South
15 July to 6 August 2008
This exhibition presents the work of DEGREE SOUTH, a new collective of eight award-winning Australian photographers based throughout the Asia Pacific region. The decision to form DEGREE SOUTH was inspired by the photographers' ideal of using their archive of significant photographs to make a difference and to remind the world of both the beauty and horror that they have witnessed. For the DEGREE SOUTH members, photography is both a passion and a way of life. In this exhibition each DEGREE SOUTH photographer has selected nine of their own photographs based on one subject, with topics ranging from war, rehabilitation and Jesuits to My Australia. The photographers are: Ben Bohan, Michael Coyne, David Dare Parker, Stephen Dupont, Joyce Evans, Tim Page, Jack Picone and Sean Flynn (absent friend). This exhibition covers two venues: ACT Legislative Assembly, London Circuit, Canberra City, and The John Curtin School of Medical Research. Media Release
